Islote of Lobos

The pathway in Lobos, one of the best preserved areas in the Canary Islands which is just under five square kilometres in size, allows visitors to enjoy a wide variety of attractions: from salt marshes to small volcanic cone formations called “hornitos”. The route which goes around the island in a circle takes you from the harbour to Martiño lighthouse. The trek on the way back goes through the Puertito, a former temporary settlement for the island’s fishermen and shellfish farmers who worked in the area.

Los Lobos is an unusual wave but when the ideal conditions converge it becomes the perfect wave in its length, varied sections and quality. To access the spot you have to take a boat that sails from the tourist resort of Corralejo to reach Los Lobos and follow a track from its port for about an hour until you have gone around the Montaña Caldera volcano.

Mahoh

Diving in Bajón del Río

The volcanic origin of the Canary Islands means that diving in its waters has unusually shaped rocky seascapes in its depths. This is the case of Bajón del Río; at a depth of 18 metres there is a bottom of golden sand from which parasol shaped volcanic crags several metres high emerge. These “mushrooms” are a refuge for a unique biodiversity. This spot located to the north of the island of Fuerteventura, in the middle of the strait which separates it from the small islet of Lobos, is only five minutes away by boat from the port of Corralejo.
