La Pared beach

A fabulous surf beach in south-east Fuerteventura

While windsurfing and kitesurfing monopolise the beaches of Corralejo and the south of Jandia, the Viejo Rey beach has always been the legendary surfing capital of Fuerteventura. Located in La Pared, an enclave named after the wall that dissected the island in two in times gone by, this beach of almost a kilometre in length is not only a benchmark for surfers, but also for lovers of freedom and nudism, as there is plenty of space for everybody.

Bathe in one of Jandía’s nudist beaches

The strong winds and frequent waves justify the beach's status as a surfing destination, but also means that care should be taken while swimming here. Jandía's black, and in certain areas, golden sands, its vast open expanses, guaranteed sun and refreshing ocean are the perfect combination to encourage visitors to unwind, take a stroll and enjoy the day. Viejo Rey beach is located near the residential area of La Pared and there is also another bay nearby, which adds to area’s charm.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
  • Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
  • Try to use ocean-friendly sun creams.
  • Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
  • Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
