MTB Route in the southwest of Fuerteventura

MTB Route in the northwest of Fuerteventura

The unique arid landscape of Fuerteventura is discovered bit by bit on this circular route which starts in the northwest and includes cycle routes signed with information panels explaining the uniqueness of the surrounds. From the village of Lajares, the starting point, you bike through volcanoes until you get to Corralejo, the biggest tourist town on the island and the best place to contemplate the Tostón lighthouse. Then, it is westward and after taking the road to Majanicho, there’s an endless line of wonderful beaches and coves while advancing towards El Cotillo.

Kitesurf on Flag Beach

Situated opposite to the Isle of Lobos, the spot sits on a protected area and is ideal for kitesurfers of any level. Kitesurf on El Burro beach

The kitesurfing spot of Playa del Burro is situated in Corralejo, in the north-east of Fuerteventura. It’s the perfect location during the summer, when the north-easterly trade winds are more frequent and more consistent. While a certain amount of experience is necessary, the beach area offers good conditions for learning. The waves generally break to the left and are short, making them perfect for those who enjoy the jumping categories. There is a friendly, relaxed vibe on El Burro beach.

Windsurfing on Playa de Sotavento

Playa de Sotavento, in the south-east of Fuerteventura, is one of the best windsurfing spots in the Canary Islands thanks to its varied conditions which are suitable for all levels. Located close to Costa Calma it’s a very safe area and is ideal for learning. Another area, closer to the main break, has strong winds and the conditions are better suited for more advanced windsurfers. Sotavento beach is known for the world championship Windsurfing & Kiteboarding competitions that are held here every summer.

Jandía Natural Park

The Natural Park of Jandia is in the municipality of Pájara, at the southern tip of Fuerteventura. Its maximum altitude is the peak of Zarza, with 807 meters above sea level. In this area of unique nature grows the endemic plant representative of the island of Fuerteventura, the cardón of Jandia. The panoramic view of the bay to admire the so-called Arco de Cofete also stands out in Jandía for its beauty.

Gran Valle

A dirt track which unites Morro Jable with Jandía marks the start of this spectacular route of great natural value. It is the pathway which starts at the foot of Gran Valle, in the south of Fuerteventura and finishes in the ever beautiful wild beach in Cofete. This is an easy two and a half hour walk, on which we can enjoy the countryside with its ever changing colours. This is Jandía Natural Park explored through one of its most important mountain ranges and which is also home to a botanic jewel-the Jandía Spurge.

Corralejo

Corralejo is located in the north of Fuerteventura, just opposite the small island of Los Lobos, whose highly visible silhouette on the horizon forms an important part of the surrounding landscape. You can take a boat from the port of Corralejo and spend the day in Los Lobos, or even go across to Lanzarote. La Oliva Living History Route

The island of Fuerteventura is an appealing tourist destination appreciated world-over for its long beaches with their golden sand and clear, turquoise water. In the municipality of La Oliva, 23 kilometres north-west of the capital, Puerto del Rosario, you can take part in the Los Coroneles Route. This living history tour of five properties aims to reveal and enhance the heritage of this town in the north of Fuerteventura.
